About Our Client

A well known and reputable Oil & Gas company is currently looking to recruit a high-calibre Senior Manager/Manager, Legal to join their legal team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Job Description

  • Assist the Legal Department in handling corporate, operational, and commercial legal matters with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Offer legal insights and guidance on regulatory compliance and support the Group's key business strategies and transactions.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize a broad spectrum of legal documents, including EPCI agreements, financing arrangements, NDAs, MOUs, LOIs, lease agreements, joint venture arrangements, power purchase agreements, and insurance policies.
  • Oversee and coordinate non-claims-related legal disputes, including settlement negotiations and engagement with external legal advisors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and maintain effective communication with external stakeholders such as government bodies, regulatory authorities, service providers, and other third parties.
  • Provide legal assistance on employment and industrial relations matters in collaboration with the Human Resources team.
  • Take on additional legal assignments and responsibilities as required to support the broader objectives of the organization.

The Successful Applicant

  • A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification legal experience, with a background that includes either private legal practice, in-house counsel work, or ideally a mix of both.
  • Holds a Law degree from a well-regarded university and is duly admitted to the Malaysian Bar or an equivalent legal body.
  • Possesses strong expertise in contract law and commercial legal matters, with a solid track record in drafting, negotiating, and managing a variety of legal agreements.
  • Previous involvement in the energy or power industry would be highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.
  • Demonstrates leadership acumen, with a strategic mindset and sound judgment in decision-making and legal risk assessment.
