Job summary

AIA Digital+ is seeking a seasoned Data Architect/Data Engineer to provide BAU governance and data solutions for Group Applications in Kuala Lumpur. Key tasks include data standards, data modeling, and BI solution design across data warehouses and data lakes.

You will collaborate with platform architects, engage stakeholders, and drive architecture management through projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related discipline.
• 8+ years IT work experience in data architecture or data engineering.
• Proficient in Python/Java/Scala and SQL with strong data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Azure data stack and big data tech.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with platform architects on data solution strategy, architecture standards, guidelines, processes, and expertise to address enterprise master data issues.
• Communicate with business partners to assess functional needs, design solution and assist in identifying data information needs.
• Integrate into project teams, understand business strategy, and shepherd architecture management through the lifecycle.
• Demonstrate strong facilitation and presentation skills to address client challenges and key talking points.
• Coordinate lab design, lab day, post work and ongoing activities including pre-planning calls.
• Define and implement Group Application data standards.
• Define data standards and reference architecture for use by project teams in developing technical designs.
• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support the data warehouse.
• Translate business requirements and models into feasible data warehouse and BI solutions.
• Design and develop architectural components for data lakes and BI solutions.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect to align with strategy.

About the Role

• Providing BAU Governance & Data Solutions for Group Applications.
• Review Data Solution enhancements and delivery for Group Applications.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate and partner with platform architects on data application strategy, architecture standards, guidelines, processes, and expertise to consistently address strategic enterprise master data issues.
• Communicate effectively with business partners and stakeholders to assess functional needs, design solution and assist in the identification of data information needs.
• Integrate into project teams within the process/platform area, being proactive in understanding the overall business strategy, plans, and upcoming projects and shepherd project teams through the entire Architecture Management process.
• Demonstrating strong facilitation and presentation skills, including the ability to understand and address client challenges and draw out key talking points.
• Managing the coordination and execution of lab design, lab day, post work and ongoing activities, which includes leading pre-planning calls
• Support the definition of and implement Group Application wide data standards.
• Defines and refines data standards and reference architecture for use by specific project teams in developing technical designs.
• Designs conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support the data warehouse.
• Participate in the translation of business requirements and models into feasible and acceptable data warehouse and business intelligence solutions.
• Design and develop technical architecture for implementation of the data-lake(s) and creation of business intelligence solutions associated to them.
• Works closely with Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect and other Solution Architects to ensure solutions align against vision and strategy.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or other relevant discipline.

Experience

• 8+ years IT work experience in a relevant role e.g. Data Architect and/or Data Engineer.
• Tertiary qualification in ANY of the following: Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or Maths/Statistical

Technical skills

• Azure Cloud certification is a mandatory requirement.
• Azure Data Fundamentals/Scientist certification is a mandatory requirement.
• Solid understanding and some practical experience in:
• Object-oriented programming languages, like Python, Java, and Scala.
• Advanced SQL skills and relational database management.
• Big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Data modelling, ETL and Data Warehousing.
• Data Analytics tools such as PowerBI and Alteryx.
• Databricks and Azure Data Solutions.

Soft Skills

• Excellent language and visual skills for producing well-structured technical documentation and operational procedures in English
• Able to communicate English.
• Knowledge on ITIL processes
• Strong customer focus with excellent client engagement, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to innovate under pressure, analyze complex problems and find solutions.
