Job summary

Vale is seeking a Chargeman-grade Electrical Technician to oversee operation, maintenance, and safety of LV systems, substations, transformers, and switchgear. The role involves leading LOTO processes, coordinating with maintenance teams, and ensuring compliance with ST/EC regulations.

Strong hands-on electrical skills and PLC/instrumentation knowledge are required. The candidate will work on-site in Malaysia, collaborating with operations to minimize downtime and ensure safe, reliable

Qualifications

Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
valid Chargeman AO certificate issued by ST under Malaysian law.
2+ years as electrical technician in maintenance; or 8+ years for SKM level certificate.
Solid hands-on electrical skills: wiring, inspection, troubleshooting.
Knowledge of motor drives, PLC, instrumentation; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee operation and maintenance of LV systems, subs, and related equipment per Vale standards and ST/EC regulations.
Lead LV system LOTO processes, issue permits and ensure isolation requests are met.
Supervise maintenance by electrical, automation personnel and vendors; ensure HSE compliance.
Perform routine generator tests and lead functional testing of equipment and installations.
Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to plan actions and prevent delays that affect terminal operations.
Report and escalate maintenance needs to inspectors, engineers, and electrical head; plan corrective actions.
