The Senior Legal and Compliance Manager will be overseeing and executing the Group’s legal affairs and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and internal policies. This role involves providing legal guidance, managing compliance programs, and mitigating risks associated with local and overseas business operations.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
- Provide legal counsel on a variety of issues including contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, employment law and regulatory matters.
- Manage disputes and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to laws, regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify risks and areas for improvement.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of legal and compliance activities, including audits, investigations and training sessions.
- Prepare and present reports on compliance status, legal issues, and risk management to senior management and the board of directors.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks associated with business operations.
- Advise on risk management strategies and assist in the development of risk mitigation plans.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and government agencies.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of required reports and documentation.
- Any initiatives, projects, ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the management from time to time.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Law from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Malaysian bar.
- Min 7 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within the APAC / SEA regions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Proficient in spoken and written Mandarin (We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients from regional offices.)
- Flexibility to travel within the APAC / SEA regions.
- Proven leadership in a managerial role in the current / previous organisations.
