Key Responsibilities
The job scope of an academic staff of UOC includes:
- Teaching responsibilities, including designing, preparing, and developing teaching materials; conducting classes, tutorials, practicals, and bedside teaching; and consulting with students.
- Invigilating examinations and conducting student assessments.
- Participating in quality assurance programs and curriculum development.
- Planning and implementing teaching strategies to optimize student learning and motivation.
- Supporting evidence-based research projects of undergraduate students.
- Student personality development, support, and supervision.
- Mentoring and supervising students academically.
- Organizing at least one co-curricular or extracurricular activity for students.
- Administrative duties, including attending departmental meetings, participating in committees, and working groups within the department, faculty, and university.
- Engaging in continuous professional development activities.
- Establishing linkages with external organizations and professional bodies in academic matters.
- Serving as a course coordinator.
- Conducting student interviews.
- Participating in university and faculty promotional activities such as career and education fairs.
- Providing clinical/patient care services as requested, minimum 4 hours/week (clinical lecturers only).
- Contributing to society, professional bodies, and corporate sectors.
- Engaging in professional consultancy and networking, both locally and internationally, as approved by the Dean of Medicine.
- Participating in scholarly activities, including research, conference presentations, journal publications, and peer training.
- Supporting efforts to secure research grants and scholarships as a co-researcher.
- Performing other duties as directed by the Dean of Medicine.
Skills and Experiences
- Master’s Degree or PhD from a recognized university, preferably in the relevant discipline.
- At least 5 to 10 years of teaching experience at the college/university level.
- Proven research and publication record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse students and colleagues.
- Strong leadership and management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with MQA and MOHE requirements is an advantage.
