Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Statistics (60104)

Responsibilities:
Research:
- Conduct research, publish journal articles, conference papers, and other peer-reviewed outputs in relevant subject disciplines, and secure funding to support research.
- Supervise student research projects, including Doctoral and/or Masters students.
- Lead and participate in collaborative research projects.
- Engage proactively with the wider research community in their fields of study, promoting their own research and the academic reputation of the University.
Teaching:
- Design, develop, deliver, review, and enhance academic programmes, ensuring lectures, tutorials, and other teaching and learning activities are appropriate to their discipline.
- Contribute to the review and enhancement of programmes of study.
- Assess student work and progress, providing constructive and timely feedback.
- Review teaching effectiveness regularly and seek ways to improve teaching quality.
- Invigilate and moderate examinations and assessments, and contribute to Subject and Programme Boards.
Service:
- Participate in Department, School, and/or University committees.
- Engage in internal and external events, such as open days, outreach activities, visits to partner institutions, and internship placements.
- Support senior colleagues to ensure smooth department and programme operations.
- Provide academic counselling to students and refer them to support services as needed.
Requirements:
- PhD in Statistics or Actuarial Science, with a minimum of 5 years of academic or industry experience.
- Fellow or Associate of a recognized Actuarial Professional Body.
- Excellent research and publication record.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as Excel VBA, SAS, Python, R, SQL, Tableau/Power BI, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a diverse community.
- Good coordination skills.
- Excellent teaching evaluations.
- Pleasant personality.
