With the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, Manipal International University was renamed as MILA University in 2023. To establish a leading business school in Asia, MILA University is inviting applications for Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor positions in the following fields of Media and Mass Communication:

Vacancy 1: Expertise in Journalism

• The candidate should have extensive knowledge and experience in journalism, including both print and digital media.
• He/she should be capable of teaching advanced journalism courses and providing students with practical insights into the field.
• Experience in investigative journalism, multimedia storytelling, and journalism ethics would be an added advantage.

Vacancy 2: Expertise in Skill-Based Mass Communication Subjects

• The candidate should possess strong skills in 2D and 3D animation, graphic design & layout, and also Web & Digital Design.
• He/she should be proficient in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, or similar tools.
• Experience in creating multimedia content and teaching these skills at a higher education level is essential.
• This role requires a focus on integrating visual communication with practical application in various media formats.

We hope to find enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a strong record of professional practice, academic research, and/or enterprise activities in media and mass communication who can contribute to the growth of the Business School of MILA University.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high quality teaching and learning activities in line with the strategy of the University.
• Provide timely student support and effective feedback to students to enhance the student experience and achievement.
• Provide pastoral guidance to students when appropriate.
• Contribute to the planning, design and development of subjects and programs in line with the strategy of the University.
• Participate in external and professional engagements that develop the enterprise activities of the University.
• Plan, organize and carry out research activities that support the strategy of the University.
• Secure appropriate funding to carry out a personal research plan.
• Work proactively with colleagues to achieve strategic outcomes of the University.
• Provide expert guidance and advice to colleagues within the university to resolve complex problems (for those appointed at least at Senior Lecturer level).
• Any other responsibilities entrusted by the University.

Essential Selection Criteria:

An applicant must

• Have a doctoral qualification or equivalent in the related field.
• Have relevant teaching experience.
• Have relevant research experience.
• Have successfully supervised at least one (1) doctoral student to the completion of doctoral qualification or equivalent.

Associate Professor positions are available for applicants who are established leaders in their field. Applicants must exhibit strong records of teaching, research and/or enterprise activities.

Senior Lecturer positions are available for applicants who have the potential to become leaders in the relevant discipline. Applicants must be able to plan and shape the direction of an area of research/teaching/enterprise activities.
