Job summary

A leading technology firm in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design to collaborate with cross-functional teams and enhance product development. The role requires expertise in power and analog circuit design, effective collaboration with teams, and experience with circuit simulation tools and eCAD software. A degree in Electrical Engineering is essential along with significant industry experience. This position involves mentoring engineers and optimizing design processes within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with design of DC-DC power converters.

Job description

The Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design collaborates with cross-functional teams including other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high-quality product development. Enhances designs with feedback from manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Provides support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system that they have designed.

Responsibilities
  • Plan overall system power architecture
  • Schematic and layout design
  • BOM management and optimization for high efficiency and low-cost solution
  • Create and review test plan
  • Review test report
  • Design verification, debugging and optimization
  • Support, guide and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Collaborate with a global team including internal team, customers and vendors
  • Bring up, verification and debugging
  • Experience with design of DC-DC power converters
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools (LTspice, TINA etc.)
  • Experience with eCAD software for schematic and PCB design (Cadence, OrCAD, Altium Designer etc.)
  • Experience with taking circuit designs through analysis, design, build, and test
  • Good team player
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
  • Broad experience in power and analog circuit design.
  • Extensive experience in designing and solving technical problems in the area of power and analog circuit design.
  • Broad experience in power supply systems development and design engineering.
  • Recognize common topologies such as Buck, Boost, Flyback and others
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cost optimization and power efficiency.
  • Skilled at bench work
Typical Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or a Ph.D. in similar disciplines with a minimum of 1 years related experience.
