Job Description for Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer
Role Purpose
To manage the Contractor delivering the ICSS engineering deliverables for assigned projects effectively and efficiently, according to the Project specified technical standards, procedures within project schedule and budget. Support Engineering Manager to plan, execute, & deliver ICSS system successfully. Reports to the assigned Engineering Manager.
Key Accountabilities
- Understand the ICSS design basis, project requirements including HSSE, scope, cost, schedule, quality requirements, specification, Industry and Class requirements, and project execution plan.
- Familiar with PCS, SIS, GDS, and FDG functionality. Familiar with Electrical Motor Control Centre and Vendor Unit Control Panel interfacing with ICSS. Familiar with communication between PDCS and ICSS.
- Evaluate all bids received for ICSS package from various suppliers, perform technical bid evaluations, ensure vendors meet project specifications, and provide assessments to Procurement for tender follow-up, negotiations, and awards.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the Contractor and ICSS supplier to clarify issues, ensure timely provision of documents, and meet project requirements and schedules. Complete ICSS engineering and FAT within schedule.
- Develop solutions to technical problems by analyzing data, interpreting analysis, and evaluating options using experience and references.
- Anticipate potential issues and take preventive actions. Identify improvement opportunities for schedule, cost, and quality enhancements.
- Visit suppliers, review test results, and ensure functions meet specifications. Work with suppliers to rectify deficiencies.
- Participate in meetings, review progress, address interface issues, and escalate as necessary to keep the project on track.
- Provide technical support during Construction/Commissioning, support SAT, troubleshoot, and follow up on issues. Offer off-site support when needed.
- Understand Safety and Process Control Systems and their interfaces.
- Participate in safety studies (HAZID/HAZOP/SIL), review reports, and develop safety system specifications and component selections.
- Ensure communication of information among all parties, and compliance with quality standards.
- Implement Lessons Learned from previous projects and record lessons learned for future reference.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor or Master of Engineering
5 years of relevant ICSS engineering experience in the oil & gas sector for Master degree holders.
Technical Competencies
- Ability to review and comment on control-related P&IDs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Intermediate skills in Adobe PDF, Navisworks, Visio
- Basic knowledge of AVEVA Engineering
