Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct cable glanding training, assess and approve cable glanding/termination personnel qualification.
  2. Review and approve cable jointer/terminator qualification certificates.
  3. Inspect/test temporary electrical works, connections to camp facilities as required.
  4. Inspect installation supports prior to cable tray installation.
  5. Inspect cable tray/conduit installation before cable laying.
  6. Inspect cable trench dimensions and sand bedding before cable laying and after each layer of cables.
  7. Monitor cable jointing/termination to ensure manufacturer’s recommendations are followed.
  8. Inspect cable glanding, termination, dressing, etc.
  9. Witness insulation resistance/continuity tests of cables on the drum, after laying, before trench backfilling, and after termination.
  10. Witness Hi-pot tests of cables.
  11. Supervise equipment installation at substations to ensure compliance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
  12. Monitor preservation activities of switch gears, transformers, bus ducts, and other equipment.
  13. Inspect switchgear installation for alignment and placement.
  14. Witness testing of switchgears including IR, Hi-pot, operational tests.
  15. Conduct various electrical tests as per ITP/vendor documentation.
  16. Perform final inspections of transformers, switchgears, MCCs, and other equipment.
  17. Inspect underground earth cable installation and joints before trench backfilling.
  18. Witness earth loop resistance/continuity tests.
  19. Inspect lightning protection systems for each building.
  20. Inspect site routed lighting cable tray installation.
  21. Inspect installation of distribution boards.
  22. Monitor preservation of motors throughout the project.
  23. Witness IR and polarization index tests as applicable.
  24. Inspect installation of local control stations.
  25. Witness functional tests from control stations to substations, if applicable.
  26. Witness inspection/testing related to CP systems before and after backfilling.
  27. Inspect installation of heat tracing circuits and components.
  28. Witness inspection/testing of overhead power distribution/transmission lines.
  29. Inspect instruments against data sheets before installation.
  30. Witness calibration of instruments as per specifications.
  31. Monitor preservation of instruments and control panels.
  32. Inspect installation/hook-up and pressure testing of impulse tubing.
  33. Supervise equipment installation at control rooms to ensure manufacturer’s recommendations are followed.
  34. Inspect installation of various cables, including system cables.
  35. Inspect installation of F&G instruments and control panels.
  36. Witness testing of F&G circuits and systems.
  37. Witness testing of control panels.
  38. Verify inspections of loop components as per ITPs and documentation.
  39. Witness loop continuity testing.
  40. Perform detailed inspections of electrical equipment based on IEC standards or visual/close inspection as applicable.
  41. Ensure correct interpretation of equipment labels and IP ratings.
  42. Verify IP ratings are maintained.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  1. Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent; Diploma candidates with proven track record in instrumentation may be considered.
  2. Minimum 10-15 years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation & Telecom QC Inspections.
  3. 3-5 years of supervisory experience in oil & gas platform or wind energy (HVDC/HVAC) platform EIT Inspection activities.
  4. Experience with major EPC contractors or subcontractors.
  5. For Hazardous Area Electrical Inspections: training on protection and installation practices, IEC 60079-17, IEC 60079-14.
  6. Possession of IECEx CoPC & CompEx or ATEX certification.
