Job summary

Barry Callebaut is seeking a Senior Buyer Indirect Spend in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia to own the indirect spend portfolio across categories such as Capex, MRO, packaging, energy and facility services. The role reports to the Purchasing Manager Indirect Spend and requires strong supplier management.

You will develop sourcing strategies, manage contracts, negotiate terms, and drive cost and service improvements while collaborating with internal stakeholders to optimize total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

• English language fluency (written and spoken)
• MS Office proficiency; SAP and/or Maximo knowledge a plus
• Engineering or technical bachelor degree a plus
• 5–10 years of indirect spend purchasing experience in an international context
• Strong interpersonal skills with leadership, autonomy and analytical abilities

Responsibilities

• Analyze historical spend data and budgets for assigned categories.
• Manage contracts related to Indirect Spend in assigned categories.
• Research and evaluate vendors; understand market forces.
• Apply purchasing processes aligned with category strategy.
• Define terms and conditions for supplier agreements.
• Negotiate proposals and finalize contracts regularly.
• Support supplier relationship management and drive value through supplier innovation.
• Drive continuous cost and service improvements in spend categories.
• Monitor and report savings results on a regular basis.
• Develop sourcing strategies to achieve best total cost of ownership.
• Create action plans to continuously reduce category costs.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and Purchasing teams.
• Ensure compliance with Group purchasing processes and regular documentation.
