Job summary

Blue Water Shipping is seeking a Senior Customs & International Trade Consultant to drive and expand our capabilities in Malaysia. The role can be based in Shah Alam or Johor Bahru, reporting to the regional trade team.

You will assess complex import/export transactions, identify compliance risks, and develop commercially practical solutions for multinational clients across industries. A strong background in Malaysian customs and FTAs is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive advisory experience across import/export and cross-trade.
• Knowledge of Malaysian customs regulations and international trade rules.
• Experience with FTAs, tariff classification and duty optimisation.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert customs and international trade advisory services to clients.
• Assess complex import/export and cross-trade transactions to identify risks and opportunities.
• Advise on customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, FTAs, and Rules of Origin.
• Identify and implement duty and tax optimisation opportunities.
• Perform customs compliance reviews, audits, risk assessments and post-clearance reviews.
• Prepare technical advice, submissions and correspondence on customs matters.
• Support clients in Free Zones, LMWs, warehousing facilities and regional distribution.
• Liaise with RMCD, MIDA, MITI and other stakeholders.
• Deliver practical, compliant solutions as a trusted advisor.
