Job description

Role Description:

  • Lead and oversee the Malaysia finance team in managing financial operations, including transactional finance activities through a shared services model supporting both Singapore and Malaysia operations.
  • Lead and enhance shared service transactional finance activities (e.g., billing, collections, reconciliations), ensuring scalability, standardization, and best practices across both Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Provides strategic and operational leadership to the Malaysia finance team, while FP&A responsibilities are focused solely on Malaysia operations.
  • Developing and implementing shared service capabilities, ensuring successful setup, transition, and continuous improvement of transactional processes under a centralized model.
  • Manage revenue, accounts receivable, and accounts payable through shared services workflows supporting both Malaysia and Singapore operations.
  • Drive process standardization, automation, and performance tracking (e.g., SLAs, KPIs) in shared service functions.
  • Develop and implement shared service capabilities and lead process transition, system integration, and operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with operational teams to align financial strategies with business goals in line with group policies.

Role Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy and/or a Chartered Accountant.
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting and finance experience with at least 5 years in managerial capacity.
  • Good experience in the retail sector and/or finance shared services or centralized operations across multiple countries.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of tax legislation.
  • Good knowledge of Malaysia Reporting Standards, Companies Act and other accounting regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with internal control documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must as is the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently.
  • Hands on and able to build strong relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Well versed in MS Excel and spreadsheet techniques with exceptional numerical proficiency and experienced in financial modelling.
  • Analytical, meticulous, strong in processes and financial concept, problem solver.
  • Possess a positive attitude, good leadership skills, interpersonal communication skills, independent and a team player.
