Job summary

A leading company in the scientific research and diagnostics field is expanding and seeks a Field Service Engineer. This role involves maintaining and calibrating diagnostic instruments as well as providing technical support within a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in engineering and have an understanding of laboratory protocols and diagnostic equipment to ensure high-quality service delivery to clients.

Qualifications

Job description

Science Valley Retes Sdn Bhd is currently undergoing expansion in line with the increasing demands for laboratory consumables and equipment’s services.

Job Responsibilities:

· Install, calibrate, and maintain laboratory diagnostic instruments, focusing on NAT platforms and decapper/sorter systems.

· Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and data accuracy.

· Monitor and validate assay performance for NAT platforms to ensure reliable diagnostic outcomes.

2. Troubleshooting & Technical Support

· Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions swiftly to minimize laboratory downtime.

· Collaborate with laboratory personnel and OEMs/principals to resolve complex technical issues.

3. Software & Systems Integration

· Implement, update, and troubleshoot software linked to NAT analyzers and related diagnostic systems.

· Work with IT and lab teams to ensure seamless integration with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and other data platforms.

4. Regulatory Compliance

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations relevant to diagnostic equipment (e.g., MDA).

· Support audits and ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 13485 and GDPMD.

5. Training & User Support

· Provide user-level training to lab staff on equipment use, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

· Serve as a technical advisor to users, offering ongoing guidance and responsive support.

6. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain detailed service records, maintenance logs, and equipment calibration reports.

· Update all documentation related to preventive maintenance, asset management, and compliance.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Electrical/ Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

2. Bonus: Knowledge of molecular biology, nucleic acid testing techniques, and laboratory protocols.

3. Strong understanding of diagnostic equipment, instrumentation, and associated software.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with laboratory staff, suppliers, and other company interdepartmental.

5. Problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and effective communication to ensure the proper functioning of laboratory diagnostic equipment, especially in the context of Nucleic Acid Testing.
