We are seeking a candidate with strong experience and proven expertise in failure analysis.

Position Summary:

Lumileds is seeking a highly qualified Engineer to lead Failure Analysis (FA) and failure product testing in support of manufacturing, product development, and customer requirements.

In this role, the Engineer will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop hypotheses, conduct thorough investigations, and prepare comprehensive FA reports detailing the background, analysis, findings, and potential root cause recommendations. The role also includes overseeing preventive maintenance and calibration of analysis equipment within the Failure Analysis Lab to ensure continued accuracy and reliability.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide failure analysis (FA) support to manufacturing and engineering development teams.
  • Manage FA requests by defining effective analysis workflows, conducting thorough investigations, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely progress updates to stakeholders for effective decision-making.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical or FA reports, including background, analysis, findings, and potential root cause recommendations.
  • Operate and maintain FA equipment, including scheduling regular maintenance and managing consumables to ensure consistent lab readiness.
  • Manage and uphold 6S standards within the FA Lab to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient working environment.
  • Develop and implement effective troubleshooting plans to improve equipment utilization and reduce downtime.
  • Lead and contribute to quality, productivity, and cost improvement initiatives within the FA Lab.

What You Will Bring (Required Qualifications):

  • Hands-on FA experience.
  • Direct involvement in conducting investigations, operating FA tools, and producing technical/FA reports.
  • Proven track record of using FA findings to drive experiments, troubleshooting, and corrective actions within an organization.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with FA tools such as Curve Tracer, CSAM, Ion Miller, SEM/EDX, FIB, PEM, OBIRCH, Thermal IR, FTIR, and Raman Spectroscopy.
  • Familiarity with physical/mechanical FA techniques like cross-sectioning, polishing, and chemical decapsulation.
  • Knowledge of wafer fabrication processes and semiconductor devices is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experienced in writing technical and failure analysis reports.
  • Capable of preparing clear, well-documented technical and FA reports for stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate and convey FA findings concisely.

Education (Minimum Level)

  • Bachelor's

Field of Study

  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Material Science, or Applied Physics/Chemistry.

Years of Experience (Minimum)

  • 5 - 7 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD qualifications are an added advantage.
  • Experience in lab operations, including equipment upkeep, consumables management, and adherence to 6S standards.
  • Participation in quality, productivity, and cost improvement initiatives is a plus.
  • Keen interest in optoelectronics devices is beneficial.
