As a Senior Facilities Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and closing facility-related projects within the manufacturing site. Your projects will span building modifications, civil works, mechanical and electrical (M&E) works, utility improvements, equipment support installations, renovations, compliance-related upgrades and facility infrastructure projects.
You will play an important role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, within approved scope, timeline, budget and quality requirements, while minimising disruption to production and site operations.
Our Team
You will be part of the Facilities / Engineering team, reporting to the Facility Manager. You will work closely with internal users and cross-functional stakeholders, including Production, EHS, Procurement and Finance, as well as contractors, consultants and vendors, to successfully deliver facility projects across the manufacturing site.
What You Will Do
Facility Project Management
- Lead assigned facility projects from planning through to completion and handover.
- Prepare project scope, timeline, cost estimates, execution plans and project trackers.
- Coordinate with internal users, contractors, consultants, vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor project progress, site constraints, schedules, costs, safety and quality.
- Ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines, approved scope and budget.
- Prepare project updates, progress reports, completion reports and handover documentation.
Scope Development & Technical Coordination
- Prepare and review scopes of work, RFQs, BQs, technical specifications and project requirements.
- Review contractor proposals, drawings, layouts, material submissions and method statements.
- Coordinate technical clarifications between Facilities, Production, EHS, Procurement, Finance, contractors and consultants.
- Ensure project scopes are clearly defined before work begins to avoid gaps, rework and unsupported variation claims.
- Support feasibility studies and technical evaluations for facility improvement projects.
Civil, Structural, M&E & Utility Projects
- Manage projects involving building renovations, room modifications, platforms, mezzanines, trenching, plinths, foundations, doors, wall openings, roofs, drainage, roads and external works.
- Manage M&E and utility-related projects such as electrical works, HVAC, CDA, cooling towers, exhaust systems, scrubbers, water systems, fire systems, piping and facility equipment installations.
- Coordinate required shutdowns, tie-in works, isolation, testing and commissioning.
- Ensure all project works are properly integrated with existing facility systems.
Contractor Management
- Manage contractors from site survey and quotation stages through work execution and completion.
- Ensure contractors submit method statements, risk assessments, work schedules, manpower plans and required documentation.
- Verify contractor work quality, progress, safety compliance and completion status.
- Review contractor claims, additional work requests and variation orders against actual site work.
- Ensure contractors complete all rectification, testing and handover requirements before acceptance.
Safety, Permit & Compliance Control
- Ensure all project activities comply with site safety requirements, including PTW, LOTO, working at height, lifting, hot work, excavation, barricading, PPE and housekeeping requirements.
- Identify project risks, including production interruptions, utility interruptions, fire route blockages, emergency access, structural risks and safety hazards.
- Coordinate with EHS, where required, on risk assessments, contractor safety and compliance reviews.
- Stop unsafe work and elevate any safety or compliance concerns immediately.
Budget, Cost & Schedule Control
- Support project budget preparation and cost estimation.
- Track project costs, PO status, invoice support, variation requests and budget utilisation.
- Monitor project schedules and highlight potential delays early.
- Prepare recovery plans for delayed or critical project items.
- Ensure any additional costs or scope changes are justified, reviewed and approved before execution.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for completed works.
- Verify project completion against approved scope and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure all defects, punch-list items and outstanding works are closed.
- Collect and file all handover documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, certificates, datasheets, warranties, manuals and completion photos.
- Conduct final handover to users and the Facility Operations team.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain proper project records, drawings, approvals, reports and communication history.
- Prepare project progress updates for management review.
- Maintain project trackers covering scope, status, target dates, issues, risks, next actions and support required.
- Ensure lessons learned and improvement actions are captured and applied to future projects.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in facility projects, engineering projects, construction, maintenance or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in project management, site coordination, contractor management and work supervision.
- Ability to prepare RFQs, BQs, scopes of work and project schedules, with a basic understanding of M&E, C&S and building services and the ability to interpret drawings, layouts, technical proposals and construction details.
- Knowledge of site safety requirements, including PTW, LOTO, working at height, lifting and hot work controls, with the ability to track project costs, schedules and progress and communicate effectively with internal users, contractors and management.
- Ability to work under pressure and support shutdown or after-office-hours project works when required.
