Job summary

Penguin Solutions Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Facilities Engineer / Chargeman to ensure the operation, maintenance, and safety of electrical systems and facility infrastructure. You will support uninterrupted 24-hour plant operations and drive energy efficiency.

Reporting to the Department Manager, you will manage M&E systems, HVAC and utilities, coordinate maintenance programs, monitor energy consumption, and ensure compliance with statutory and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum Chargeman AO.
• Above 10 years facilities experience in manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and schematic reading skills.
• Good knowledge of M&E, electrical, HVAC, and building systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
• Good knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Ability to analyze equipment and energy performance.
• Good contractor coordination and project management skills.
• Knowledge of statutory, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Good communication, teamwork, and customer service skill.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical and M&E systems across the facility to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operation.
• Oversee electrical distribution systems, including incoming power supply, transformers, switchboards, and associated equipment.
• Perform electrical switching, isolation, troubleshooting, testing, and restoration activities in accordance with procedures and regulations.
• Ensure all electrical installations and equipment are compliant with statutory requirements and standards.
• Analyze equipment performance and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain electrical and M&E asset information, maintenance records, and operating procedures.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for facility and M&E systems.
• Monitor HVAC, chillers, cooling systems, lighting, and other critical utilities; troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate with facilities contractors to ensure work quality, safety, and compliance.
• Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities to reduce costs; support sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare energy and sustainability reports and support audits.
