We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented person to join our Technical Procurement team. This role primarily focuses on ensuring cost savings, managing the procurement of automotive parts, and being responsible for sourcing, negotiating, supplier performance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within the automotive industry and a keen focus on cost optimization strategies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategic Procurement & Cost Savings
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives through effective supplier negotiation and strategic sourcing.
- Conduct market analysis to ensure competitive pricing and favorable procurement conditions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, finance) to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality materials and timely deliveries.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to align with company objectives.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability.
- Procurement Operations
- Manage purchase requisitions, RFQs, and procurement processes in compliance with company policies.
- Ensure on-time delivery of direct materials to support production schedules.
- Monitor and resolve supply chain issues to prevent production disruptions.
- Technical & Market Insights
- Stay updated on market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and industry developments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical specifications and sourcing requirements.
- Assess new suppliers and alternative materials to enhance supply chain resilience.
- Project Management and Localization
- Work closely with key stakeholders—including Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers—to procure and develop tooling and equipment for each project, ensuring that all deliverables are achieved according to timeline, cost, and quality requirements.
- Lead efforts to localize parts, materials, and tooling by identifying and developing capable local suppliers. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate technical feasibility, cost competitiveness, and quality compliance of local options. Support government-led initiatives and national automotive policies by increasing local content, reducing dependency on imports, shortening supply chain lead times, and contributing to overall cost optimization. Monitor localization progress and address technical or commercial challenges that may impact project goals.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant working experience (preferably in automotive industries, manufacturing, or business process improvement).
- Experienced in cost reduction activities and strong negotiation skills.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing, engineering materials, and products is an added advantage.
- Strong coordination and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Knowledge of the local supplier base and familiarity with national automotive localization policies are added advantages.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possess a positive attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - PowerPoint, Excel.
