Job Purpose
Render professional and expert legal advice, reviewing and drafting various legal documents and to ensure compliance of relevant laws and regulations, in order to safeguard MDEC's interest and mitigate legal risks and exposures.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and draft legal documents;
- Gather, review and analyse facts and documents, to provide legal opinion;
- Conduct due diligence and legal research;
- Participate in negotiation meetings;
- Provide valuable contributions in identifying and highlighting gaps and proposing measures to mitigate risks;
- Update the status report and maintaining necessary records of all legal matters;
- Work liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including external solicitors, to achieve desired outcome; and
- Assume responsibility for related duties as assigned by the Performance Manager and/or Head of Department.
Qualifications
Possess a Bachelor of Laws degree, with 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience (excluding chambering), either as an Advocate & Solicitor or an in-house lawyer, preferably admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
Competencies
- Professional legal knowledge and working experience preferably in any of the following areas of law; contract and commercial, company, intellectual property, conveyancing, land tort, information technology and/or privacy;
- Competent drafting skill;
- Strong analytical capability; and
- Good communication skill, both written and spoken, in English and Bahasa Malaysia
