Job Purpose:

Data Analyst in our stockbroking firm will play a crucial role in leveraging data to drive informed decision-making and uphold the firm's risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Parameter Management: Develop, implement, and track key risk parameters to ensure all exposures remain within the company's defined risk appetite.

Client Portfolio Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of client portfolios, focusing on account opening approval rates, credit quality, risk concentration, and identifying irregular trading patterns. Your insights will be crucial for detecting early warning signals and proposing policy revisions to optimize the risk-reward trade-off.

Ongoing Financial Health Monitoring: Continuously monitor the financial health of clients and counterparties to ensure their ongoing creditworthiness and adherence to established risk profiles.

Policy and Procedure Enhancement: Recommend revisions to existing policies and procedures based on ongoing risk monitoring and emerging trends, strengthening the firm's risk management posture.

Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive periodic reports to senior management and key stakeholders, providing clear insights into the firm’s risk exposure and the effectiveness of risk management strategies.

New Product and Enhancement Support: Provide critical risk analysis and support for new product launches and existing product enhancements, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risk exposures.

Market-Driven Initiatives: Undertake ad-hoc assignments as required, responding to dynamic market developments and aligning with the company's strategic direction.

Role Requirements & Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher is required, with a preference for degrees in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or Economics.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis. Experience in the financial services sector (e.g., stockbroking, fund management, investment firms, banks, insurance, e-money, or e-wallet providers) is an added advantage. Experience from accounting or audit firms with a focus on financial risk will also be considered.

Data Proficiency: Proven ability to effectively deal with data, from organizing and cleaning to analyzing and presenting. You should be highly proficient in SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, Microsoft Office / Google Workplace tools, especially Excel/Spreadsheet. Your Excel skills should extend beyond basic functions.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in data extraction, data wrangling, and analysis, coupled with exceptional skills in data storytelling to translate complex insights into actionable narratives.

Multilingual Proficiency: You should be fluent in Mandarin, Malay, and English, enabling effective communication across our diverse client base and internal teams.
