Job summary

Allianz is seeking an experienced Engineering Underwriter in Malaysia to assess, price, and underwrite complex engineering risks. You will ensure contract certainty, proper documentation, and adherence to risk appetite while driving profitable growth in the engineering portfolio.

In this role you will build strong relationships with agents, brokers, and corporate clients, uphold underwriting quality, and collaborate with Claims, Risk Engineering, Reinsurance, and Operations to deliver effective

• Experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and assess submissions for insurance in line with guidelines and exposure.
• Prepare quotations, policy documents, and endorsements accurately within service standards.
• Engage with intermediaries to discuss terms and conditions for risk acceptance.
• Establish processes to monitor work on hand and priorities for turnaround times.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and distribution partners.
• Negotiate profitable opportunities while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Collaborate with Claims, Risk Engineering, Reinsurance, and Operations to deliver solutions.
• Monitor portfolio performance to support profitable growth.

In the role of Engineering Underwriter, you’ll be responsible for assessing, pricing, and underwriting complex engineering and technical risks to ensure contract certainty, proper documentation, and adherence to internal risk appetite and guidelines. This role focuses on driving profitable growth for the engineering portfolio by analyzing technical data, structuring policy terms, and building strong relationships with agents, brokers and corporate clients.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced underwriter to ensure service standards, underwriting quality, and business growth objectives are maintained. You will work closely with agents, brokers and internal stakeholders to identify, shape, and secure high-quality opportunities while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability

You’ll be responsible for:

• To underwrite and assess the submission of proposal for insurance in accordance with the Company guidelines and its inherited exposure.
• To prepare quotations, policy documentation, and endorsements accurately and within established service standards.
• To determine and discuss with intermediaries the appropriate terms and conditions applicable to risk acceptance.
• Establish process to effectively monitor work on hand and set priorities to complete tasks within turnaround time.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, agents, and distribution partners.
• Negotiate and secure profitable business opportunities while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Collaborate closely with Claims, Risk Engineering, Reinsurance, and Operations teams to deliver effective underwriting solutions.
• Monitor and manage portfolio performance to support profitable growth.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records and ensure compliance with company policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Support departmental projects, process enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver expert underwriting guidance to clients and market partners.
• Support team members across all operations to maintain smooth and efficient departmental workflow.
• Stay informed of market developments, industry trends, and emerging risks within the Construction sector.
• Any other duties as and when deemed necessary.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry is preferred.
