Develop, implement, and optimize SMT assembly processes, including screen printing, solder paste application, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection.
Ensure the SMT processes meet quality, efficiency, and yield requirements.
Select and qualify equipment, tools, and materials for the SMT line.
Quality Control and Troubleshooting:
Analyze process data to identify and resolve defects such as solder bridging, tombstoning, component misalignment, or voids.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime.
Documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, SOPs, and process parameters.
Train operators and technicians on process steps and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction:
Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase productivity and reduce production costs.
Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to streamline operations and improve quality.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with design, quality, production, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth SMT operations and support new product introductions (NPI).
Provide technical support during design reviews, helping to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM).
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all SMT processes comply with industry standards (e.g., IPC-A-610) and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety regulations.
Job Requirements
Education: Typically, a degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing) or equivalent experience in electronics manufacturing.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of SMT processes, including equipment operation, solder paste inspection (SPI), automated optical inspection (AOI), and X-ray inspection.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze defects and implement corrective actions using tools like root cause analysis, 8D, and FMEA.
Experience in Electronics Manufacturing: Knowledge of PCB design, electronic components, and circuit assembly.
Lean Manufacturing & Quality Tools: Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean principles, and quality management tools is often beneficial.
