Job summary

Johnson Controls in Malaysia seeks an Application Engineer to provide technical support for integrated security systems, translating requirements into end-to-end security solutions with clear costing, timelines, and resource planning.

You will engage with customers alongside the business development team to present capabilities, solution architecture, and project approach, while collaborating across Sales, Engineering and Operations to ensure feasibility and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Process & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 year relevant working experience.
• Strong knowledge in security systems such as CCure, Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, etc.
• Experience in system integration and security solution design for commercial, industrial, or critical infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, servers and system architecture.
• Basic programming/configuration experience (access control logic, system integration, or API-based platforms) is an advantage.
• Experience in pre-sales, proposal, or application engineering role preferred.
• Willing to travel for site visits and customer engagement across Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support by responding to customer requirements with detailed security system design and costings.
• Develop design proposals, system layouts, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Operations to align solutions, costing and delivery feasibility.
• Prepare technical submissions, drawings and high-level design documentation.
• Generate BOQ and ensure accuracy for proposal submissions.
• Deliver technical presentations to customers on proposed solutions.
• Promote standardised solutions and best practices across functions.

What you will do :

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, primarily in customer proposals, system design, and solution development for integrated security systems. This includes understanding customer requirements and translating them into end-to-end security solutions (Access Control, CCTV, Perimeter Intrusion Detection) with clear costing, timelines, and resource planning.

The role will also involve engagement with customers alongside the business development team to present technical capabilities, solution architecture, and project approach.

How you will do it:

• Provide technical support by responding to customer requirements with detailed analysis of security system design, including system architecture, hardware selection, and integration approach
• Develop design proposals, system layouts, and compliance with project specifications to meet customer needs
• Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to align solutions, costing, and delivery feasibility
• Prepare technical submissions, drawings, and proposals, including system schematics and high-level design documentation
• Perform cost estimation based on drawings, specifications, and site requirements
• Generate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and ensure accuracy for proposal submissions
• Provide technical presentations to customers on proposed solutions
• Work collaboratively across functions to ensure solution standardisation and best practices
• Knowledge of Johnson Controls security solutions will be an advantage
