A leading company in Malaysia is seeking an M&E Site Engineer for the construction and commissioning of Residual Treatment Facilities at two significant water treatment plants. The role involves overseeing M&E works, managing subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Candidates should have extensive experience in M&E construction and must hold a relevant engineering degree.

Qualifications

  • At least 6-10 years of relevant working experience in M&E construction.
  • Experience in water treatment plants or related infrastructure projects.
  • Registered with the relevant engineering board and possess a valid CIDB Green Card.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the Project Manager in overseeing all mechanical and electrical (M&E) works related to the construction and commissioning of the Residual Treatment Facilities (RTF) at the Bukit Badong and Rasa Water Treatment Plants.This includes supervision of subcontractors, coordination with consultants, ensuring work compliance with technical specifications and statutory requirements, and ensuring timely progress of M&E works within budget and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all M&E construction activities on-site, including mechanical equipment, piping systems, electrical infrastructure, MCC panels, instrumentation, and SCADA systems.
  • Review and verify M&E designs, shop drawings, technical submissions, and material specifications to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate Combined Services Drawings (CSD)incorporating all M&E trades (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fire protection, etc.), ensuring no spatial or coordination clashes with structural and architectural elements.
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings with all M&E trades contractors and relevant parties to resolve service routing issues and verify site feasibility.
  • Coordinate interface works between M&E and Civil/Structural disciplines, especially for embedded items and builder’s works provisions.
  • Liaise with consultants and authorities for technical approvals, inspections, and permits.
  • Supervise and monitor M&E subcontractors’ work progress, quality, and compliance with approved drawings and method statements.
  • Manage and verify testing & commissioning activities of mechanical and electrical systems, including FAT, SAT, and SCADA integration.
  • Monitor material delivery schedules and ensure timely installation to avoid delays.
  • Ensure the preparation and compilation of as built drawings, O&M manuals, and testing records for final handover.
  • Enforce compliance with site safety, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Assist the Project Manager in assessing variations, EOT, and progress claims related to M&E works.
  • To comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety & Health and Environment related to the job scope and work place as required by the Company
  • Any other duties that will be assigned from time to time by the Management
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical orElectricalEngineering.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • Valid CIDB Green Card.
Skills & Abilities
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in water infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in the preparation and coordination of Combined Services Drawings (CSD).
  • Strong ability to resolve site-level technical coordination issues among various M&E trades.
  • Familiarity with authority requirements (SPAN, DOSH, TNB, BOMBA, etc.).
  • Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Revit/BIM is an advantage.
