Job summary

TÜV SÜD Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead the electrical, mechanical, cooling and control systems commissioning for data centre projects. You will oversee design reviews, FAT/SAT, IST, and on-site testing, ensuring performance and readiness.

You will manage client engagements, coordinate with consultants and vendors, review test records, and drive risk mitigation and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in data centre commissioning or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience leading commissioning and IST for data centres.
• Experience with load bank tests and FMEA/FMECA is a plus.
• Familiarity with hyperscale and high-density environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities from design review to handover.
• Review drawings, specs and sequences to identify gaps and risks.
• Develop commissioning plans, test procedures, checklists and schedules.
• Lead onsite testing of electrical, mechanical, cooling and controls.
• Evaluate test results and provide corrective recommendations.
• Lead meetings with clients and coordinate with teams and vendors.
• Manage schedules, resources and risk to ensure on-time delivery.
• Maintain issue logs and verify closure of non-conformances.
• Review reports and handover documentation for accuracy.
• Provide technical advice to clients with independence and impartiality.
• Support proposals, tenders and development of commissioning offerings.

Job description

• Lead commissioning activities for new-build and retrofit data centre projects, from design review through testing and handover.
• Review OPR, BOD, technical drawings, specifications and sequences of operation to identify design gaps and potential technical risks.
• Develop and review commissioning plans, test procedures, checklists and schedules across relevant commissioning stages, including FAT, SAT, functional performance testing and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Lead and witness onsite testing of critical electrical, mechanical, cooling and control systems, including redundancy, load transfer, failover and failure-mode testing.
• Evaluate test results, troubleshoot technical issues and provide recommendations to verify system performance and operational readiness.
• Project Delivery & Client Management
• Lead commissioning meetings and coordinate activities with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and equipment vendors.
• Manage project schedules, resources, deliverables and technical risks to ensure timely and quality project execution.
• Maintain commissioning issue logs and non-conformance records, driving corrective actions and verifying closure.
• Review commissioning reports, test records and handover documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical advice and objective findings to clients while maintaining professional independence and impartiality.
• Business Development
• Support technical proposals, tenders, quotations and the development of commissioning service offerings.

Job Requirements:-

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanial Engineer or related field.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in data centre comissioning, mission-critical facilities, M&E commissioning or critical infrastructure engineering. ]
• Proven experience leading commissioning activities, functional performance testing and integrated systems testing for data centres or similar facilities.
• Experience conducting load bank testing, black building tests, failure mode and effects testing (FMEA/FMECA), and integrated systems testing in mission-critical facilities
• Familiarity with hyperscale, colocation and high-density computing environments would be an advantage
