Senior Engineer, BIM/VDC – MEP Coordinator

As the MEP Coordinator – BIM/VDC, you will lead the coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and ELV models across the data center project. You will work closely with the Project BIM Lead and BIM Engineers to ensure MEP systems are spatially integrated, technically compliant, and ready for construction. This role requires active collaboration with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams, with a focus on issue resolution, clash coordination, shop drawing validation, and adherence to ISO 19650 digital delivery standards.

Main Duties

Coordinate all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, ELV) models to ensure spatial fit, integration with architectural and structural systems, and compliance with design intent.

Review and validate subcontractor/BIM Engineer BIM models and shop drawings to ensure they meet coordination, constructability, and delivery requirements.

Manage and resolve design clashes using Naviswork and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Model Coordination) to deliver clash-free federated models.

Enforce MEP modeling standards, system routing strategies, and clearance requirements in alignment with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

Lead and participate in MEP coordination meetings, workshops, and issue resolution sessions with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Monitor and track model updates and issue logs using ACC (Docs, RFIs, Submittals, Issues) to maintain digital accountability and traceability.

Support in extracting coordinated shop drawings, annotated views, and quantity take-offs to support construction, installation, and procurement activities.

Maintain alignment with ISO 19650, project-specific EIRs, and CDE workflows for MEP-related digital deliverables.

· Liaise with design consultants and site teams to ensure timely response to design changes, field constraints, and construction feedback.

Collaborate with the design team and subcontractors to ensure installation models reflect as-built conditions, ready for turnover and lifecycle management.

Support the development of the Asset Information Model (AIM) by validating that all required asset data (e.g., equipment tags, serial numbers, maintenance parameters) are captured in the federated model.

Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure they populate and deliver COBie-compliant data, linked to model elements in line with project handover requirements.

Conduct model health checks and audits to validate that models are suitable for AIM use and match the data schema outlined in the EIR and AIR.

Provide technical support and guidance to MEP BIM engineers in model structuring, asset tagging, and metadata organization.

Requirement

Minimum 5–6 years of BIM coordination experience in MEP systems, preferably in a contractor or design & build environment.

Proven expertise in clash detection, resolution, and system coordination using Navisworks, Revit, and ACC tools.

Strong working knowledge of MEP systems, plant layouts, technical routing, and space management.

Proficient in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).

Understanding of ISO 19650, BIM Execution Plans, structured naming conventions, and CDE workflows.

Familiarity with MEP-related codes, installation methods, and system integration in mission-critical environments.

In-depth understanding of MEP system modeling, coordination strategies, and routing principles.

Familiar with openBIM standards (e.g., IFC), COBie, and BIM-enabled asset data delivery.

Experience or exposure to 4D/5D BIM, point cloud integration, or reality capture workflows is a plus.

Certification in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or other BIM-related software is an added advantage.

Experience working on data centers is a plus.
