Job summary

LSPCM (Johore) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Electrical Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment in a heavy industrial setting in Malaysia. You will troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical infrastructure, coordinate with production teams, and support installation, testing and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities include reading electrical drawings, supervising junior staff, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Experience in a steel plant, furnace operation or CCM environment is an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and electrical troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and SCADA systems.
• Able to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Able to work independently, guide junior technicians and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
• Willing to work shifts, overtime and attend to emergency breakdowns when required.
• Good safety awareness, discipline and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems to ensure reliable plant operations.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults involving motors, control panels, switchgear, drives, sensors and production equipment.
• Inspect electrical installations and identify potential faults or maintenance requirements to minimize breakdowns and production downtime.
• Assist in maintaining electrical systems for furnaces, CCM, overhead cranes, pumps and other plant machinery.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and equipment manuals when performing maintenance and repairs.
• Guide junior technicians and coordinate daily electrical maintenance tasks.
• Work closely with production and other maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and complete work within the required timeframe.
• Support equipment installation, modification, testing and commissioning activities.
• Monitor electrical spare parts and consumables and inform the supervisor of replenishment requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, breakdowns, repairs and maintenance work.
• Follow electrical safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Support ISO documentation, housekeeping and continuous improvement activities.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the superior.
