Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to oversee all aspects of engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years in the Oil & Gas sector, along with a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Responsibilities include managing project timelines, technical design, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. This role requires effective communication with clients and the ability to lead and mentor younger engineers.

Qualifications

• 8 years’ experience in executing engineering work in Oil & Gas / Power Plant / Petrochemical.
• Experience in preparing technical requisitions and specifications.
• Ability to review engineering deliverables from a technical viewpoint.

Responsibilities

• Manage all engineering work from start to finish within time and budget.
• Perform design calculations and prepare drawings.
• Interface with Client Engineers during project execution.

Job description

Manage all aspects of engineering work assigned from start to finish and ensure that all work is carried out within the set time, budgetary, quality, and technical requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Able to undertake Discipline Lead Engineer role for a project or tender work.

Analysis of technical contractual documents and design criteria.

Responsible for technical and quality matters of design deliverables, schedule compliance, and budget control by providing input to project execution plans and schedules for the project.

Perform or initiate conceptual, basic design, and detail design calculations and drawings.

Able to plan project work effectively and ensure all project work is done according to schedule and budget.

Able to interface with the Client Engineers during project execution work.

Prepare technical requisitions/specifications/data sheets/ MTO.

Prepare technical bid evaluations.

Review and incorporate vendor data and drawings.

Provide necessary interface information to other departments.

Provide technical advice and input to other disciplines / Project Management / Client/ Site during construction / pre-commissioning / commissioning / start-up / acceptance test.

Perform any other functions as allocated by Head of Section/Head of Department.

Qualifications

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical) or equivalent field.

Registered engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

8 years’ experience in executing engineering work in Oil & Gas / Power Plant / Petrochemical /Oleochemical/ Water treatment / etc. Industry.

Possesses high technical capability in most aspects of electrical discipline.

Ability to plan and review all engineering deliverables/ non-deliverables documents or drawings from a technical and quality point of view.

Able to train and supervise younger engineers in some aspects of his/her discipline.

Able to support the Project team and/or Business Development group in discussions with Client Engineers/Managers as an expert in his/her field.

Experience in providing input on constructability, operational, and maintenance issues in the design.

Have effective communication skills with Engineers and Designers to ensure design integrity and consistency.

Working Conditions

Normal office work, site assignment (exposure to existing plant condition/construction work), and travelling

Requires overtime or off normal working hours for deadlines

Possess valid safety pass from Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and Oil & Gas Safety Passport (OGSP).
