Senior Economist, Regional Economic Surveillance | LINK & BNM Offices

The Senior Economist will serve as a subject matter expert at the regional level.

The role involves providing independent assessments to meet the surveillance and forecasting needs of line departments in economics and the financial sector.

The Senior Economist is responsible for developing strategies for advocacy and strategic communications in economics and supporting the Regional Head in driving the Bank’s strategic agenda at the regional level.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Review and recommend independent assessments on economic surveillance and outputs from BNM Offices and Headquarters to ensure alignment with forecasting and surveillance needs.
  2. Lead strategic engagements with industry players and government agencies to gather timely economic and financial insights.
  3. Conduct in-depth research using insights from industrial engagements to monitor economic developments, identify risks, and propose industry policies.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders, including state and multilateral agencies, to identify trends and improve regional economic surveillance.
  5. Support the Regional Head and JLPB in driving the Bank’s strategic agenda, providing strategic direction on performance, training, research, and other areas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Academic Qualifications: Degree or professional qualification in economics, banking, or finance.
  • Experience: Preferably at least 5 years in the economics and financial sector.

Note: This is an attachment with BNM Regional Offices, with an expectation of returning to the HQ line department afterward.
