Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Drafting Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating detailed technical drawings and models for unfired pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, and other equipment, with a strong understanding of ASME code requirements. You will work closely with our design and fabrication teams to ensure that all designs are accurately translated into manufacturing instructions and meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design: Develop and produce detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, blueprints, and models for unfired pressure vessels using 3D CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor), ensuring all designs comply with ASME code and project specifications. Drawing is not limited to unfired pressure vessels.

Team Development: Play a key role in the development of the drafting team/section by mentoring junior drafters and providing technical guidance to ensure high standards are maintained across all projects.

Standards and Documentation: Develop, implement, and maintain drafting guidelines, manuals, and work instructions to standardize and improve the quality and consistency of drawings and documentation within the team.

Drawing Libraries: Create and manage a comprehensive drawing library, including standardized components, symbols, and templates, to streamline the drafting process and enhance efficiency across projects.

Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and the fabrication team to ensure that designs are accurately translated into manufacturing instructions, providing technical support during the production process.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: Review and update drawings to ensure compliance with ASME codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all technical drawings.

Project Documentation: Assist in the preparation of detailed project documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other related documents, ensuring that all information is accurate and accessible.

Project Meetings: Participate in project meetings to discuss design concepts, provide updates, and ensure that drafting deliverables align with overall project goals.

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in equipment fabrication, preferably with a focus on the design and fabrication of pressure vessels. Experience working with ASME code is highly desirable. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is required. Experience with other CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks is also beneficial.

Strong knowledge of ASME codes, standards, and pressure vessel design principles.

Experience in developing and maintaining drafting standards, guidelines, and drawing libraries.

Team Development: Demonstrated experience in mentoring or leading a drafting team, with a focus on developing team capabilities and standardizing practices.

Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and precision in technical drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with engineers, fabrication teams, and other stakeholders.
