Project description

Our client, a leading bank in Asia with a global network of more than 500 branches and offices in 19 countries across Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America, is looking for Consultants to join their project. The Technology and Operations function comprises five specialized teams: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance, and planning support and services. These teams collaborate to leverage technology in supporting both physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralizing, and standardizing technology systems and banking operations across Malaysia and overseas branches.

The client has over 80 years of banking industry experience and is expanding its presence in Malaysia. The selected candidate will work in a newly established technology center in Kuala Lumpur within the Technology and Operations division, delivering innovative financial technology solutions to support business growth and technological transformation.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide application support to various business users, promptly attending to queries and requests, and ensuring proper closure of requests.
  2. Enhance and develop projects or change requests, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  3. Participate in gathering user requirements, providing impact analysis, and effort estimation.
  4. Resolve reported incidents timely to meet service level targets, including failures, queries, and event alerts from monitoring tools.
  5. Perform root cause analysis to identify permanent solutions, preventing recurrence and minimizing impact.
  6. Proactively manage incidents and problems, prioritize issues of varying severity, and escalate as necessary.
  7. Collaborate with development teams to identify resolutions and transition releases into production.
  8. Adopt standard incident and problem management workflows, including proper logging, change management, and communication.
  9. Participate in disaster recovery/business continuity activities and infrastructure upgrades.
  10. Monitor and analyze performance and capacity data to forecast future requirements.
  11. Support management reporting and participate in centrally driven project initiatives as needed.

Skills

Must have

  • Degree in computer science, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of experience in application development and support within banking, finance, or related fields, with knowledge of GL, MAS, GST, regulatory, and reporting/business intelligence.
  • Experience with Unix/Windows platforms, batch scheduling tools, database querying, and BI tools.
  • Technical skills: Unix/Linux, Axway Managed File Transfer/Axway Secure Transport.
  • Knowledge of finance, risk, accounting, ITIL, or similar frameworks is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of front-to-back banking processes, finance, risk, and accounting data across sectors.
  • Proven incident/problem management and organizational skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with application servers such as Oracle WebLogic or JBoss.
  • Web server experience with Apache.
  • Scripting skills in Shell and PL/SQL, including procedures, views, and indexes.
  • Experience with batch schedulers like Control-M and tools like Splunk.
