Job description

Your new company

This multinational, high-end bank is famous for its aspirational and exceptional financial services. Its office in Kuala Lumpur offers a world-class working environment. Due to market growth, a permanent Senior Data Security Legal Counsel is needed to join the team in Kuala Lumpur.

Your new role

As the Senior Data Security Legal Counsel, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing support and working closely with the Group’s regional and global teams to ensure the protection of data and systems.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to stay informed about legal developments across APAC and worldwide.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contractual terms related to privacy and cybersecurity.
  • Offering guidance on regulatory compliance and privacy policy matters.
  • Developing strategies for responding to data and cybersecurity incidents.

What you'll need to succeed

  • At least five years of experience specialising in cyber and data privacy law.
  • Deep knowledge of global data privacy regulations (such as GDPR, PDPO) and data transfer frameworks (including SCCs, TIAs).
  • Expertise in creating incident response strategies and crisis management protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance on complex privacy concerns, international data exchange, and regulatory interactions.
  • Hands-on experience in managing cybersecurity incidents and engaging with regulatory bodies or compliance teams.
  • Strong interest in technology with the ability to work collaboratively with tech professionals.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, a proactive mindset, and experience navigating high-pressure environments such as law firms or financial institutions.
