Job summary

Tokio Marine Insurance Group (Asia) seeks a Data Scientist to develop and deploy data-driven solutions, transforming complex data into actionable insights to support business decisions and performance improvements across key functions.

The role involves designing and validating predictive and ML models, deploying them into production, and collaborating with business units to translate requirements into analytical solutions. Strong Python/R, SQL, and statistics knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• 3-4 years of relevant experience in data science, advanced analytics, predictive modelling or related disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, predictive modelling and machine learning.
• Proficient in Python and/or R, and SQL, with experience handling large and complex datasets.
• Experience in model development, validation and deployment into production.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
• Experience in general insurance or financial services is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, or relevant professional certifications would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory and advanced data analysis on large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies and business opportunities.
• Design, develop, validate and monitor predictive, statistical and machine learning models to address business needs and improve decision-making.
• Support the deployment and operationalisation of analytical and machine learning models, including performance monitoring and continuous enhancement to ensure accuracy, reliability and relevance.
• Partner with business units to understand business challenges, translate requirements into analytical solutions and provide actionable recommendations.
• Prepare, transform and analyze data from multiple sources to support modelling and analytical initiatives.
• Present analytical findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain appropriate model documentation, validation and governance standards in accordance with organisational requirements.
• Keep abreast of emerging data science, analytics and machine learning techniques and identify opportunities for practical application.
• Undertake other ad-hoc projects and assignments as required.
