Job summary

JLand Group (JLG) is seeking a Data Protection Governance & Compliance professional in Kuala Lumpur to lead privacy governance, DPIAs and incident management. You will advise management on obligations, monitor regulatory developments and maintain governance frameworks.

You will promote privacy by design, coordinate with IT, Legal and risk teams, and oversee data subject rights, third-party data sharing and regulatory engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, IT, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Risk Management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Act 709) and relevant data protection requirements.
• Proven experience in privacy compliance, DPIA, data breach management and risk assessment.
• Good understanding of data security and personal data processing operations.
• Strong communication, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficient in Bahasa Melayu and English, both written and spoken.
• Relevant data protection/privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM) are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the organisation's privacy governance framework.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact on processing activities.
• Advise management on data protection obligations, risks and compliance requirements.
• Establish policies, procedures, standards and guidelines relating to personal data protection.
• Monitor the organisation's compliance with data protection requirements and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead or support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing.
• Act as a key advisor in data breach and privacy incident management processes.
• Oversee data subject rights and privacy requests and related communications.
• Provide privacy by design guidance during new products, systems or processes.
• Review third-party data sharing arrangements and data transfers.
