Job summary

SD Guthrie Berhad is seeking a data engineering professional to help define and execute the department’s data vision. You will design and maintain ETL pipelines from SAP and diverse sources, build scalable analytics infrastructure, and collaborate with auditors and data scientists to enable self-service analytics.

The role requires 3+ years in data or software engineering, strong SQL and programming skills, and experience with ETL/ELT and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary education (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Data Science.
• Professional certification or technical qualification (e.g. Certified Data Analyst, Certified Data Scientist, Certified Data Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals) is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering or a related role.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, Scala)
• Minimum 3 years of experience with ETL / ELT tools and orchestration framework.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms and data warehouses.
• Understanding of data modelling concepts and performance optimiser.

Responsibilities

• Strategy alignment and architecture: define data engineering vision and target architecture aligned with objectives and standards.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines ingesting data from SAP ECC6/S/4HANA, IoT, geospatial sources and external data providers.
• Ensure scalable, secure, and cost-efficient analytics infrastructure to support analytics needs.
• Monitor and optimise data workflows for performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.
• Build and maintain data storage solutions (data mart, data lake) for reporting and analytics.
• Develop data models to support analytics and audit/ investigation activities across teams.
• Implement data validation, testing, monitoring, and observability to ensure data quality.
• Collaborate with auditors, analytics specialists, data scientists, and stakeholders to determine data requirements.
• Deliver clean, trusted datasets for self-service analytics and reporting, with documentation and guidance.
• Explore and support advanced analytics (RPA, ML, AI) leveraging large datasets.
