Job summary

Billennium in Kuala Lumpur seeks a seasoned Database Architect to lead a data transformation initiative. You will define enterprise data architecture, drive migration from IBM DB2 to AWS-based PostgreSQL, and ensure performance, security, and governance across platforms.

The role requires 10+ years in data engineering with 3+ in architecture, strong skills in relational databases, and experience in the insurance domain. Health insurance and enhanced leave benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 3 years in a Data Architect role.
• Hands-on expertise in relational databases (IBM DB2, PostgreSQL preferred).
• Proven track record in large-scale data migration projects, especially to AWS.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS data services: RDS, Aurora, DMS; Redshift is a plus.
• Experience in insurance or financial services domain is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive end-to-end data architecture strategy for enterprise systems.
• Lead database migration from IBM DB2 to AWS (PostgreSQL), including planning, design, and execution.
• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business needs.
• Ensure data consistency, integrity, security, and governance across platforms.
• Optimize database performance and scalability in AWS environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, developers, business stakeholders).
• Establish architecture standards, best practices, and frameworks.
• Perform impact analysis, risk assessment, and mitigation planning for migration activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams.
