Job summary

A leading company is seeking a Senior Credit Controller to manage accounts receivable and credit control processes based in Selangor. The role involves handling the full credit control cycle, monitoring customer accounts, and working closely with clients and internal teams to ensure timely payments. Candidates should have a degree in Finance or Accounting along with at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry.

Qualifications

About the role

As the Senior Credit Controller, you will play a vital role in managing the company's accounts receivable and credit control processes. This full-time position is based in Sec 33, Shah Alam, Selangor, and will be instrumental in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organisation.

What you'll be doing

Manage the full credit control cycle, from invoicing to debt collection.

Ensure timely and effective collection of payments from customers.

Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue balances.

Handle disputes and manage long-outstanding receivables.

Provide weekly status reports and work toward achieving collection targets.

Prepare monthly aging reports and update customer payment statuses.

Liaise with clients, consultants, and QS on project completion certifications and release of retention sums.

Communicate with internal and external parties to resolve payment issues.

Review sales contracts for credit risks, payment terms, and retention clauses.

Conduct credit evaluations and recommend strategies to minimize delinquencies.

Report critical credit issues and variances to management.

Prepare ad-hoc financial and management reports as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

What we're looking for

Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in credit control, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.

Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment and collection processes.

Experience with project-based billing, retention, and progress claims is an added advantage.

Proficiency in accounting/ERP software (MYOB experience is a plus).

Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
