The Role

As a Senior Buyer, you will:

Category & Product Management

To select, source, and manage product categories based on customer preferences and market trends.

To track the product lifecycle, ensuring new product launches, delistings, and replacements align with business objectives.

To analyze product performance and consumer demand, making data-driven recommendations for category improvements.

To source and negotiate with suppliers, brand owners, and distributors to secure competitive pricing, trading terms, and marketing support.

To manage supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery, product quality, and promotional participation.

To coordinate with vendors on new product launches, in-store activations, and exclusivity agreements.

Promotion & Pricing Strategy

To implement pricing strategies that drive sales while maintaining margin targets.

To plan and execute seasonal promotions, category campaigns, and marketing activations in collaboration with sales and marketing teams.

To assess the impact of promotions and adjust strategies based on sales performance and consumer response.

Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

To work with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels, preventing overstock and out-of-stock issues.

To review purchasing forecasts and adjust orders based on sales trends, supplier lead times, and market demand.

To collaborate with merchandising and store operations teams to ensure effective in-store execution of category plans.

Retail Market & Competitor Analysis

To monitor consumer trends, competitor pricing, and industry developments to maintain a competitive product mix.

To conduct regular store visits and performance reviews to understand buying patterns and improve product placement.

To provide insights and data-driven recommendations to refine product offerings, pricing, and promotions.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and experience:

Minimum 2-4 years of experience in buying, category management, or merchandising in a retail or FMCG environment.

Strong analytical skills to evaluate sales data, market trends, and consumer behavior.

Proven experience in supplier negotiations, trade terms management, and promotional planning.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work with suppliers, internal teams, and store operations.

Ability to work in a fast-paced FMCG environment and quickly adapt to market changes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with ERP or retail management systems is an advantage.

Location: Eco Business Park 1, Bandar Dato Onn, Johor Bahru.
