Job summary

Arup Malaysia seeks a senior Bridge & Civil Structures leader to drive delivery of significant projects, guiding planning, design and technical governance across multidisciplinary teams in transportation infrastructure.

You will review engineering deliverables, mentor engineers, and present solutions to clients, while supporting growth and maintaining Arup’s standards and values in Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 10–15 years of bridge and civil structures experience.
  • Experience on medium-to-large transportation projects in consulting.
  • Leading multidisciplinary design teams and complex workstreams.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver significant, complex bridge and civil structure projects and manage resources.
  • Lead planning and design of bridges, tunnels and civil structures for transportation projects.
  • Review calculations, design reports, specs, drawings and deliverables.
  • Deliver technical presentations to clients, stakeholders and project teams.

Provide technical leadership and consulting engineering services to clients of Arup Malaysia in the field of Bridge & Civil Structures. Accountable for the successful delivery of significant and complex bridge and civil structure projects whilst supporting business growth, resource planning, technical excellence and the development of engineering capability within the team.

The Opportunity
  • Accountable for the delivery of significant and complex activities or projects and responsible for accurate prediction, planning and management of future resources.
  • Lead the planning and design of complex bridges, tunnels and civil structures for transportation and infrastructure projects while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead civil structures engineering projects involving major bridges, retaining walls, culverts, underground structures and associated transportation infrastructure, establishing and maintaining high technical standards.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, drawings and technical deliverables prepared by project teams. (Adapted for the Grade 6 technical leadership level.)
  • Deliver technical presentations and communicate complex engineering solutions to clients, stakeholders and project teams.
Is this role right for you?
  • Recognized relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in bridge and civil structures engineering.
  • Significant experience in medium-to-large transportation and infrastructure projects within a consulting business environment.
  • Extensive experience in bridge engineering, structural analysis, retaining structures, culverts, underground structures and transportation infrastructure work.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and complex engineering workstreams.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and engineering standards.
  • Demonstrated capability in project planning, resource forecasting, technical governance and engineering leadership.
