The Senior BI Developer reports to BI Section Head. The jobholder is responsible for managing assigned projects from a technical perspective and should be able to understand business challenges and translate them into requirements/solutions. He/she is accountable for all phases of development process, analysis, design, develop, testing and implementation. He/she is also expected to assist the Section Head in the managing of team members and coordinating team assignment and activities, while also working very closely with Project Team/Business Analyst and a large set of customers to understand end user expectations.
Job Roles and Responsibilities:
Requirements & Analysis
Understand, analyze, and refine the Application and BI Solutions requirements
Perform impact study on the existing BI processes, downstream systems and reporting.
Analyze and consolidate business requirement and develop functional specification design
Work closely with Business Project Managers and Business Users on BI Project requirements and recommend solution.
BI Development & Implementation
Designing, developing, and implementing complex BI solutions, relational and multi-dimensional data models, and administration of the BI environment.
Ensure efficient data loading and data access in Enterprise BI platforms and solutions
Provide guideline on system integration and Unit testing, processes standardization and job streams.
Standards & Governance
Maintain and roll out consistent reporting and analytic standards.
Prepare documentation to ensure all change management, release management and governance processes are adhered to.
Develop project documentation according to Project Management Office requirements.
Leading small teams with responsibility for task delegation, supervision and status reporting
Provide technical leadership to a team of technical developers on BI Tools and technology.
Monitor assign technical tasks of the team and ensure deliverables are delivered within the project timeline.
Jobholder Requirements:
Education/Qualification
Professional IT qualification/IT degree/related degree or diploma.
Microsoft SQL Certification is highly desirable
Experience
Extensive knowledge in MS SQL Server and PostgresSQL.
Knowledge of data warehouse architecture and toolset capabilities and information management best practices is highly desirable.
Experience in BI tool administration and fine tuning BI environments for optimum performance enhancements.
Experience in working on implementing complex BI solutions in support of a large customer base.
Knowledge in SAS Enterprise BI solution is added advantage .
Knowledge in the following:
Database : MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL (SAS will be an added advantage)
Systems : MS Windows (Unix will be an added advantage)
Utilities : Microsoft SSRS, SSIS, SAS Enterprise
