Job summary

Altera in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Senior QMS Engineer to lead the development and deployment of quality management systems across automotive, aerospace, and other regulated programs.

You will translate customer and regulatory requirements into practical processes, drive improvements, audits, and cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure compliant, robust quality systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems with automotive/manufacturing focus.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
• Working knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans).
• Experience with calibration/measurement equipment and traceability.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, production, test or lab quality systems.
• Ability to translate requirements into executable processes across functions.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional influence in matrixed environments.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as QMS SME for automotive quality requirements and standards.
• Lead deployment of AIAG Tools and IATF16949 methodologies across programs.
• Establish scalable processes, governance, and evidence for FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, and calibration.
• Translate automotive requirements into procedures, templates, and workflows.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality to embed requirements across operations and suppliers.
• Support internal/external audits, gap assessments, and corrective actions to closure.
• Provide quality system support for ADG and other regulated initiatives across Asia.
• Mentor teams on automotive quality systems and measurement practices.
