Job Summary
Coordinate with the Head of Sustainable, Health and Safety of Property Management Services to develop and carry out occupational safety and health policies. Coordination of all applicable legislative, regulatory, contractual, and corporate sustainability duties, as well as the establishment of a joint strategy direction for overall sustainability to align with and achieve the organization's goals and objectives. Documentation, meeting proposal preparation, and day-to-day cooperation with relevant departments to ensure departmental goals are met.
Job Description
- Provide a yearly budget and cost programme to manage the department for improvement and day-to-day operations.
- Execute the budget in a more prudent manner in terms of spending and cost savings.
- Work with Group Finance on yearly budgeting, including other assets under the PMS.
- Assets yearly appraisal via appointed consultant and database monitoring on sustainable.
- Manage internal stakeholders in providing information and guidelines on health and safety practices.
- Provide internal stakeholders and tenants with updates on sustainability programmes related to building facilities.
- Support internal stakeholders and tenants on sustainable programmes initiated by BPMB and its subsidiaries.
- Coordinate with regulating bodies such as DOSH, DOE and BOMBA. Manage OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
- Prepare emergency response program for quarterly basis and reporting to BPMB Safety & Health Committee.
- Implement environmental, health and safety policies in compliance with regulatory, corporate, & insurance requirements.
- Lead Emergency Response Program in the planning, administration and coordination of emergency activities.
- Lead investigations on environmental, health and safety non-compliance incidents and provide urgent response to operational issues. Conduct site inspections, health checking of life safety devices/system, audits and identify areas for improvements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the site related rules defined in the EHS Plan, revised as necessary and take appropriate actions in the event of non-compliance.
- Provide consultative services to the Management on workers’ compensation claims and liability issues.
- Ensure full implementation of the EHS communication processes, including preparation and facilitation of Safety Committee Meeting.
- Ensure full implementation of the risk assessment/ method of statement identification, preparation, review and communication processes.
- Ensure the Permit-To-Work processes are fully implemented and safety inspection of contractor’s work.
- Ensure that all Accidents/Incidents are recorded, investigated and analyzed to prevent reoccurrence.
- Provide training manuals, materials to staffs, tenants and contractors.
- Prepare Annual budget based on the improvement needed from safety perspective, monitor and control EHS budget.
- Update regularly the health and safety portal, including to promote newsletters of the functional.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years working experience in related field and industries.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA1994, FMA 1967, EQA 1974 and related regulations is essential.
- Risk Assessment: Proficiency in HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis).
- Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and identify root causes.
- Understanding of chemical safety, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and CLASS Regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is often preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital for interacting with all levels of employees.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or equivalent; and
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or equivalent.
- Passing the NIOSH SHO examination; or
- NEBOSH HSE Certification; or
- Green Book Certification issued by DOSH.
