Responsibilities
- Assist in managing litigation files, including documentation, coordinating internal responses, and tracking case deadlines.
- Act as a liaison between business units and external counsel to ensure effective communication and case progress.
- Maintain and update litigation status reports, ensuring timely communication with management and stakeholders.
- Review pleadings, letters of demand, affidavits, and other documents prepared by external counsel, coordinating verification with relevant business units.
- Support the review of standard commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and escalating issues where necessary.
- Maintain proper records and organize legal files for litigation, recovery, and contractual matters in line with departmental protocols.
- Prepare internal memos, legal templates, contract registers, and reports for internal stakeholders.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for legal operations and compliance matters.
- Assist in ad hoc legal assignments, including contract review and corporate support, as directed by senior legal leadership.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements in legal documentation, tracking, and reporting to enhance departmental efficiency.
Requirements
- LLB degree holder; admission to a common law jurisdiction is preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of legal experience, either in private practice or in-house, with an advantage for candidates experienced in debt recovery and dispute resolution.
- Strong knowledge of law and legal procedures with proven legal analytical skills.
- High interpersonal skills; adaptable, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while being both results-driven and service-oriented.
- Proven track record in providing effective, high-quality legal advice and successfully negotiating complex, high-value contracts and agreements.
- Strong leadership ability to influence cross-functional teams, set departmental priorities, and align legal strategy with overall business objectives.
