Job summary

Curtin University Malaysia is seeking a Senior Application Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain university business applications and digital platforms. You will lead integrations between core systems and drive secure, scalable solutions aligned with institutional needs.

The role requires 5+ years in application development, strong ASP.NET/C#, REST APIs, and database expertise, plus experience with system integration, SDLC, and project leadership within a university environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software development/engineering or related.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in application/software development.
• Experience with ASP.NET/C# and SQL/MySQL or equivalent technologies.
• Experience designing system integrations using APIs, web services, and databases.
• Experience in troubleshooting, performance optimization, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Experience leading or participating in application development and digital transformation projects.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC, architecture and software engineering principles.
• Strong knowledge of ASP.NET/ASP.NET Core, C#, MVC, REST APIs and web app development.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and/or MS SQL Server and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain web-based and enterprise applications.
• Analyse business requirements and translate into technical specifications.
• Develop application architecture, databases, APIs, interfaces and technical designs.
• Develop and maintain integrations between university systems (SIS, Finance, HR, LMS, payment, identity management).
• Design and optimise databases, queries, stored procedures, and data interfaces.
• Implement secure coding practices, access controls, authentication, data protection and vulnerability remediation.
• Diagnose and resolve complex application issues, performance problems, and integration failures.
• Manage application upgrades, patches, enhancements, and documentation.
• Develop and conduct unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
• Lead or participate in projects from planning to post-implementation support.
• Collaborate with vendors on integrations and system implementations.
• Maintain architecture, technical specifications and change records per ICT governance.
