Senior Actuarial Analyst

Job Description:

Senior Actuarial Analyst

(Reporting to the Head of Analytics, Malaysia)

This position is part of the Asia Pacific Actuarial Analytics team supporting clients reinsurance operations regionally and globally specifically in the South East Asia and Asia-Pacific Region. The Senior Actuarial Analyst plays a pivotal role in assisting the firms clients in analysing risk to their business from all product lines. Clients include insurance companies, reinsurers and the government.

The role is required to undertake best-practice actuarial and financial modelling and effectively communicating these results to clients to support reinsurance decision making, in addition to understanding the financial position of clients, their broader approach to risk management including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), solvency and economic capital management and how this contributes to their business success.

Other responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding relationship between insurance and capital markets and various products available to manage risk including conventional reinsurance and structured solutions
  • Data review and analysis including analysing granular risk level data and claims as part of our clients drive to optimise risk selection, implementation and understanding the drivers of ultimate claims costs
  • Opportunities to work with offices and teams worldwide which may involve local and overseas travel to contribute to regional business development and success.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in MS Office packages with a strong spreadsheet background
  • Strong business communication skills with highly developed business report writing skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and ability to multitask and prioritise project work
  • Ability to process and understand data quickly and creatively
  • The ability to work in a team and autonomously and highly motivated to learn and grow within a global market leader

Qualifications and Education:

  • Actuarial Degree and Fellowship qualification or, at a minimum, have attained Associate level with IFoA, CAS (or equivalent)
  • General insurance/reinsurance experience will be an advantage
