Job description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the hotel’s daily financial operations, including financial reporting, invoice management, internal audits, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, financial analysis, and collaboration with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Accounting Management:

Full set accounts

Supervise accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.

Review and record all invoices, payment vouchers, and bank statements.

Prepare monthly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for improvement.

Collaborate with management to prepare financial forecasts and budgets.

Audit & Compliance:

Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with hotel financial policies and local regulations.

Support external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Ensure compliance with tax regulations (GST/SST, income tax, etc.) and submit tax filings on time.

Budget & Cost Management:

Assist in preparing annual budgets and monitor financial performance against budgets.

Analyze operational costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Oversee departmental expenditures and ensure they stay within budget limits.

Work closely with other departments (e.g., Sales, HR, Operations) to ensure accurate financial records.

Provide training and support to staff on hotel financial procedures.

Accounting Systems & Processes:

Use hotel accounting systems (e.g., Opera PMS, Sun Systems, QuickBooks) to record and analyze financial data.

Recommend process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years ++ of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality or service industry.

Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing.

Skills:

Full set accounts

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

Knowledge of accounting standards (MFRS/IFRS) and local tax regulations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Language: Fluent in English, Mandarin and Malay. Other is advantages. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Attributes: Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a plus.

Experience with hotel PMS systems (e.g., Opera, Protel) is an advantage.
