Job summary

A leading hotel management firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Security Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee security personnel, manage guest inquiries, and conduct safety patrols. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail to ensure a safe environment for all guests and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security or similar role preferred.
  • Familiarity with hotel policies and procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Job description

§ Checks and accounts for all inventories in the Security Office.

§ Records all occurrences of security interests in the logbook for the information of security personnel and management.

Customer Service

§ Handles all internal/external guests’ complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to ensure problems are resolved satisfactorily.

§ Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.

Operational

§ Supervises closely all Security Personnel through hands-on management, ensuring duties are performed in accordance with Hotel Policies & Procedures and applicable local laws.

§ Ensures Security Personnel are always present at their assigned areas.

§ Conducts patrols in all public areas, restaurants, guest floors, offices, plant rooms, and other hotel areas to ensure safety, security, and guest comfort, watching out for suspicious loiterers or articles.

§ Checks for fires, unsafe conditions, and inoperative safety equipment during patrols.

§ Assists the Security & Safety Manager with daily tasks.

§ Ensures smooth operation of all departmental procedures and coordination with other departments.

§ Conducts investigations and initial reports on security and fire-related incidents.

§ Conducts roll calls/daily briefings 15 minutes before shifts, informing security officers of the day’s activities/functions.

§ Assists and organizes the Security Fire Fighting Team during emergencies.

§ Ensures fire exits are always clear from obstructions.

§ Supports management and enforcement offices during emergency situations.

§ Assists in investigating accidents and security incidents involving guests and staff.

§ Questions suspicious individuals politely; refuses entry if reasonable replies are not provided; seeks assistance if needed.

§ Assists with staff bag checks and periodic locker searches, ensuring procedures follow hotel policies.

§ Monitors and controls the movement of staff entering and leaving through the associate entrance.

Personnel

§ Oversees punctuality and appearance of Security Officers, ensuring proper uniforms and high standards of personal hygiene.

§ Motivates and monitors staff performance.

§ Ensures staff understand and adhere to rules and regulations, including safety and security policies.

Other Duties

§ Familiar with radio system use and maintenance.

§ Knowledgeable of statutory legislations.

§ Adheres to rules in the Associate Guide and hotel policies regarding fire, hygiene, and safety.

§ Maintains high standards of personal presentation and grooming.

§ Responds to industry, company, and hotel changes in security functions.

§ Demonstrates responsible behavior and positive hotel representation.

§ Attends training sessions and meetings as required.

§ Performs other duties as assigned.
