Job summary

Solarvest Holdings Berhad in Malaysia seeks a market development professional to identify, contact, and evaluate subcontractors across SEA markets for solar installation, cabling, and onshore works. You will assess vendors, maintain a subcontractor database, and track policy developments at government briefings.

Map government contacts, prepare market intelligence reports, identify project sites, and coordinate visits.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in renewable energy project development, business development, or market research.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
• Fluent English with working knowledge of at least one SEA language preferred.
• Driving license and own transport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, contact, and evaluate subcontractors in assigned SEA markets across solar installation, cabling and onshore works, civil works, and interconnection facilities.
• Conduct vendor qualification assessments gathering company profiles, references, capability documentation, and pricing benchmarks.
• Maintain and update the subcontractor database for each assigned market.
• Attend government briefings, industry events, and public consultations in assigned markets to track policy developments and tender announcements.
• Map key government contacts and decision-makers relevant to utility solar development in each country.
• Prepare structured market intelligence reports covering policy updates, competitive activity, grid developments, and new opportunity signals.
• Identify and log potential project sites, emerging tenders, and partnership opportunities across assigned markets.
• Conduct preliminary site assessments - evaluating grid proximity, land availability, topography, and access.
• Escalate qualified opportunities to the Asst PM for prioritisation and deeper evaluation.
• Support the Asst PM in maintaining relationships with local JV partners and development co-sponsors through regular contact and meeting coordination.
• Coordinate logistics and materials for in-country market visits, partner meetings, and authority briefings
• Submit weekly market activity updates to the Asst PM covering subcontractor outreach, authority engagements, and opportunities identified.
• Prepare structured country market briefs quarterly for each assigned market.

Requirements

• 2-3 years in RE project development, business development, or market research - ideally with some SEA exposure.
• Experience conducting vendor qualification or subcontractor assessment is an advantage.
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Fluent in English. Working proficiency in at least one SEA language (Vietnamese, Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia, Thai) is a strong advantage.
• Driving license required. Own transport preferred.
