Job Title: Group Senior Manager, Sea Freight Operations

Reports To: Managing Director

Team Size: 7 Section Managers and 15 Customer Service Executives

Work Location: Shah Alam

Salary Range: RM13,000 – RM17,000 per month

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Manager to lead and drive the sea freight operations at a dynamic organization. Based in Shah Alam, this pivotal role focuses on overseeing daily operational excellence while setting strategic direction to enhance service quality for both internal and external customers. This highly visible role collaborates cross-functionally to improve freight services through process optimization and lean management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, oversee, and manage import/export operations, serving as the primary point of contact for the team.
• Support Section Managers in expanding business opportunities and achieving P&L targets for client accounts.
• Plan, organize, and supervise daily activities, ensuring compliance with agreed service levels.
• Optimize data processes for intake, validation, communication, and information management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies to drive business growth.
• Ensure strict adherence to local and international shipping regulations and safety standards.
• Manage profitability through effective sales operations and efficient cost control measures.
• Address irregularities and resolve cargo-related issues promptly with carriers and transport providers.
• Ensure accuracy and timely submission of weekly and monthly operational reports.
• Stay updated on evolving customs regulations, import/export laws, and compliance standards.
• Lead and participate in both customer and internal audits to maintain ISO compliance standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in logistics or freight forwarding operations.
• Degree or Master's in Logistics Operations, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid knowledge of trucking operations, industry SLAs, and performance improvement methods.
• Proven ability to manage and collaborate with transport vendors and logistics partners effectively.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage relationships with customers and subcontractors from project initiation to completion.
• Experience working in a cross-functional, collaborative team environment, with a solid understanding of operational processes and business workflows.
