RESPONSIBLE TO: The Head, DHA, Head of Science Faculty

TEACHING:

The Teacher Science/Mathematics Subject will have a full teaching load. This is usually 32 40-minute lessons out of a timetable of 40 lessons.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Science, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
• Experience of teaching to up to A levels, preferably with experience in an International School.
• Experience of teaching Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) to IGCSE.
• Computer literacy (familiar with Google Classroom and Sparks), excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for teaching and ability to add value to our team.
• Excellent written and communication skills in English.
• Experience with curriculum design and development.
• Strong understanding of Science/Mathematics curriculum standard and best practice.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and administration to support student success.
• Ability to manage a classroom and promote an engaging learning environment.
• Experience of working with EAL learners would be an advantage.

Co-Curricular

The expectation is that all teachers, in consultation with appropriate colleagues, support a program of subject-related activities. These include relevant departmental clubs and trips. Teachers in the Senior School are expected to take at least two after-school activities each week. Teachers also look after a Form as a Form Tutor, monitoring and supporting students’ progress, and carrying out the tasks associated with this role.

General teaching Duties - these include, but are not limited to:

• keeping up to date with child protection issues.
• undertaking any reasonable task as directed by the Head of Faculty.
• attending INSET training courses and taking responsibility for CPD.
• attending other meetings as required and acting on information and notices etc.
• contributing to the marketing and promotion of the school.
• working collaboratively to achieve the school’s aims and its development plan.
• reporting on students’ progress to parents in accordance with school policies.
• setting examinations/tests/coursework as required by the Head of Faculty.
• attending parents’ evenings and being available for further parental contact where necessary during the course of the year.
• carrying out any tasks that are reasonably requested by senior colleagues.
